
1. Dr. Jane is coming on March 18 - show off your Roots & Shoots projects!
Dr. Goodall will receive the Roger Tory Peterson Award and give a lecture entitled Reason for Hope in a Complex World at Harvard University's Sanders Theatre at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 18. She will discuss the exciting and innovative work of the Jane Goodall Institute and Roots & Shoots. A book signing will follow.
Tickets for the lecture will be on sale at the Harvard Box Office beginning February 27. $9.00 for the general public / $5.00 for HMNH Members and Harvard ID holders. Further details at http://www.hmnh.harvard.edu/events/.
If you are a Roots & Shoots leader or member, Dr. Jane wants to meet you. You are invited to exhibit your work in a nearby facility beginning at 10:30 a.m. Dr. Jane will visit the Roots & Shoots groups at 11:00 am. She wants to hear about your group’s projects. 2. Roots & Shoots New England to visit Children’s Museum of Portland, ME
Tuesday, February 13, 1-2 pm:
For the Birds! All are welcome to join Roots & Shoots in a special service project to make suet feeders for wintering birds. This program is aimed at young children. We'll also learn about the birds that winter in Maine and the efforts of conservation programs to ensure their survival.
Tuesday, February 13, 3-5 pm:
Workshop: How to Start a Roots & Shoots Group. This workshop is aimed at high school students, college students, teachers and volunteer adult mentors who wish to start Roots & Shoots service learning groups with youth. We will go over the steps required to start up a group, with concrete examples of Roots & Shoots service projects.
