  • Why would someone start a "Vulture Restaurant?"
  • How can African farmers coexist with crop-destroying baboons?

For answers to these questions and a chance to talk with two amazing young people who are making a difference in the world, community members are invited to three special events in April.

Roots & Shoots regional coordinators Deus Cosmos from Tanzania, and Manoj Gautam from Nepal will be staying in Arlington from April 4 to 9 on the New England leg of their goodwill tour of the United States.

Members of the two Arlington Roots & Shoots groups, Planet Ottoson and the Bishop Green Bees, will be hosting the two young men while they are in our area.

You will have a chance to meet Deus and Manoj at the following three events:

  • Sunday, April 6: Roots & Shoots groups will host a dinner in honor of Manoj and Deus at the Kathmandu Spice Restaurant at 166 Mass. Ave. in East Arlington. Interested community members are welcome. RSVP required by April 5.
  • Monday, April 7: Manoj and Deus will present their work in Nepal and Tanzania from 4-5 p.m. at the Arlington Enrichment Collaborative (1100 Mass. Ave. #2). Q&A to follow. RSVP required by April 6; middle and high-school students & parents welcome.
  • Tuesday, April 8: Arlington students ages 12-18 are invited to participate in a “Talkabout” recorded cablecast with Deus and Manoj at the Arlington Studio on Tuesday, April 8. To participate on-camera, be there by 2:30 p.m. RSVP required by April 6.
